Like my style, my music taste can be described as eclectic. It ranges from the soft, melodic sound of Lana to the sassy beat of Elle King. The music I listen to tends to reflect my mood. When I’m feeling creative, I love listening to something upbeat that I can sing along to. When I’m feeling stressed, it’s nice to have a lighter tune that blends into the background.
Right now I have been crazy into Halsey. She is absolute perfection. Her album badlands has been playing on repeat for the past couple weeks. There is just something about her lyrics that is so entrancing. I highly recommend that you give her a listen.
As you all know, this year I joined the UW-Stout chapter of Her Campus. For the past year I have been contributing to our page as a writer talking about fashion. I’ve loved getting a taste of my future career path. I’ve enjoyed my time with Her Campus so much, that I decided to take my commitment a step further and ran for one of the executive board positions. Next year I will be taking over the social media director position. I will be in charge of managing all of our social media accounts and coming up with giveaways.
You may have noticed a new icon had popped up on my side bar. A couple of months ago a became a part of the Her Campus Blogger Network. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a wonderful community made up of bloggers from all over. As a group we communicate with each other, sharing advice and helping each other with technical problems that come with the biz. I’m so excited to be a part of HCBN and am looking forward to working with such an amazing group of people.
I also had to mention that I was featured as a campus celebrity during finals week. So if you’d love to learn a little bit more about me, you can check out the interview here.
A special part of my heart has long been dedicated to the lovely Orla Kiely. When I first discovered her unique and retro designs a couple of years ago, I couldn’t help but fall madly in love. Her use of vintage designs and interesting prints had caught my eye. Though her collections are a bit out of my price range at the moment, I can’t keep my eyes from twinkling as I see photos of her new collections.
While on my visit to New York, I couldn’t resist stopping by in one of her stores. It was exactly as I imagined it to be, as if one stepped into another world filled mid-century stylings and Orla’s signature stem print. If I could, I don’t think I ever would have left the store.
Something that always amazed me about her style as a designer is her creative runways. Instead of using the plain catwalk, she creates her own imagery for the clothing. With some touches from the 60’s, her fashion shows create a sense of realness. To go along with her shows, she has created beautiful short films to present her clothes in a way that encase the true feelings and thoughts behind the design. As you watch each film, it’s hard not to want to adorn every outfit and own each piece.
